About me

FAQ answer #1: my name is pronounced "my-you" :)

my story

I used to design classroom experiences — first for children going through homelessness, then for rowdy and endearing Spanish school children. After working as a teacher for a few years, I pivoted into designing customer experience in the startup sector where I quickly learned how to work in multidisciplinary teams, scale processes, and create products that add value to people’s lives.

In July 2020, I worked with a UX Designer to revamp our company website, an experience that spurred a deep fascination with UX and led me to realize that what I truly enjoy is creating positive change through interaction. As a UX Designer, I combine learnings from my past roles to design experiences and interactions that make people smile.

What I've learned so far

Here are a few key insights I’ve had so far in my career:

  • People have a core need of wanting to be understood. Instead of listening to reply, I now listen to understand and gain insight into the other person’s perspective.

  • Working with various teams in a transparent environment helped me to approach ideas from different perspectives.

  • Be intentional with words and actions. A “no” can be crafted to deliver joy if I formulate the sentence carefully.

Outside of work…

I usually spend my time working on ceramic or woodworking projects, cooking, mushroom hunting, and traveling to places near and far.

How others see me

“…willing to break from convention, methodical in your approach to tasks and goals, and eager to explore.”

“… delightful to be around… open and honest. Also no one can make brownies like you do!”
